South Albany Airport Celebrates 75th Anniversary
BETHLEHEM — South Albany Airport, a small, private, public-use airport in south Bethlehem, was once a small strip of grass on a field of farmland. On Saturday, members of the community took to the skies from the now paved 60-foot-wide runway to celebrate 75 years of operation at the airport.
The airport celebrated the milestone on Saturday with a “Wings & Wheels” event that featured small planes and show cars and offered community members the chance to accompany a pilot on a scenic flight in plane. From kids to seasoned aviators, the event drew dozens of visitors interested in learning more about the niche.
