Prince Charles POLL: Is Prince Charles a hypocrite on climate change? | royal | New
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, traveled by helicopter to several engagements last year, including the UN Climate Conference COP26 in Glasgow, a trip to Belfast and a tour of Wales, according to the accounts of the royal family. The Daily Express’ royal editor, Richard Palmer, said Charles was aware that the use of helicopters was “not a good look” for the royal family.
Speaking to Royal RoundUp host Pandora Forsyth earlier this month, Mr Palmer said: “So you see them using helicopters, I mean, part of it sometimes is having to get from A to B then to C pretty quickly and the helicopter is the only way to do that.

“But it’s often not pretty, is it, especially over a short distance.
“Housekeeping will often say, we have that helicopter sitting there, it’s a fixed cost, might as well use it.”
He added: “Prince Charles doesn’t like to use helicopters.”
A royal source told the PA news agency last month that Charles was trying to balance his journey to fulfill his royal duties and be a champion for the environment.
They explained that Charles is “rather allergic” to helicopter travel and will often object to it when suggested.
They added: “If the recommendation goes to the Prince of Wales he will raise an eyebrow and say ‘do it again’.”
According to the Aviation Environment Federation, air transport is considered the most carbon-intensive mode of transport.
Sir Clive Alderton, Charles’ principal private secretary, said the prince had “personally” pushed the decision to use sustainable aviation fuel, which is now used for all official travel “wherever possible”.
Mr Palmer said Charles helped change the company’s practice with helicopters, but acknowledged that sustainable fuel always comes at an environmental cost.
He added: “But this type of fuel is less damaging than the standard type of aviation fuel.”
