Emirates SkyCargo’s pharmaceutical operations in Dubai have undergone a rigorous assessment for compliance with GDP guidelines by Bureau Veritas, Germany, including two full certification cycles involving multiple certification and oversight audits.
The carrier has one of the world’s largest fleets of Cool Dollys which help keep cargo at a stable temperature between the aircraft and the terminal. Almost 50 of these Cool Dolly are dedicated to pharmaceutical freight.
Establish links to offer cures: The establishment of a world-class transportation hub for pharmaceuticals in Dubai by Emirates SkyCargo has facilitated the rapid and secure transportation of pharmaceuticals from manufacturing sites to final destinations.
Almost a third of the total pharmaceutical goods exported to Emirates SkyCargo each year originate from India.
Emirates SkyCargo has also worked with ground agents at more than 35 major origin and destination pharmaceutical airports to ensure high standards of origin-to-destination pharmaceutical processing.
Covid19 pandemic: During the pandemic, it has become even more essential for Emirates SkyCargo to maintain the supply chain across the world for pharmaceuticals, for the treatment of COVID-19 and other diseases.
By deploying an increasing number of cargo flights only on passenger aircraft, Emirates SkyCargo has offered seamless connectivity for the transport of urgent pharmaceuticals.

As of August 2020, Emirates SkyCargo began preparations to adapt its hub to the transport of COVID-19 vaccines.
More recently, the carrier expanded its cold room infrastructure with 94 airline pallet positions at its EU GDP certified dedicated pharmaceutical facility at Dubai International Airport.
The extended cold room provides additional capacity in a temperature-controlled environment (2-25 degrees Celsius), allowing the equivalent of 60 to 90 million additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be stored at any one time.
Between October 2020 and September 2021, Emirates SkyCargo transported more than 250 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to more than 75 destinations through its hub in Dubai.
As part of the Dubai Vaccine Logistics Alliance, Emirates SkyCargo has partnered with DP World, International Humanitarian City and Dubai Airports to combine expertise and strengths to accelerate the flow of vaccines to developing countries via Dubai.
The carrier has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with UNICEF to facilitate the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in support of the COVAX facility for equitable vaccine distribution.
In May 2021, Emirates SkyCargo set up the Emirates India Humanitarian Airlift and donated cargo capacity to carry essential supplies free of charge, including oxygen cylinders, concentrators and relief tents on flights. from Dubai to Indian destinations to help the Indian community fight the COVID-19 pandemic. .
